Hi,
This is my '69 VF Regal.
Saved it from my old man, who bought it to wreck. There was no way I could let him do that given its relatively good condition.
The car cost $250, and is 98% complete.
There is rust, but after looking around at some restoration threads, its nothing compared to what some people have repaired on later model vehicle's.
I'm a total Chrysler newby. And as such this is a very big learning curve for me. I'm slowly getting a handle on how all the model codes fall into a chronological order.

The basic idea I have for this car, is to take certain styling cues from various models and incorporate them into this build. Having little idea on different models, its going to take some research to really decide what will work the best.
I want to build a cruiser, But I'm going to use a 318ci (at minimum) and a manual gearbox. Everything I've ever worked on before as been to go really fast, so the change of pace will take a bit of getting used to.
As for cosmetics, I'm not sure if I want a solid black or white/chrome or a bold red or green with Pacer stripes at this point.
Opinions are more then welcome from you guy's. Anyway, enough rambling. Here are some photo's.

As it was when I got it:

Started stripping:

Some more pictures.
Probably doesn't look as if I've done much, but I spend maybe 6hrs stripping and cleaning this today.
Still lots to strip off of it. But It's been so hot, it made everything 5x harder.

After a pressure wash nothing caved in so that's a plus (Used a fire hose, so if it was going to break something it would have).
No new rust spots either which is excellent, although the real test is media blasting.

The Dash is fairly average, can anyone point me in the direction of a mob that can re manufacture it for me?

Few more pictures. Little progress though. Had some big storms come through and the roof of the old shed couldn't hold back the onslaught for long. So I had to retreat inside.

I've given it a bit more of a tub. Still not great definatly no rust in the chassis behind the steering box though!

I had to do a little panel beating behind the Fuel fillter, its been hit and pushed up and the Panels had seperated. Nothing a knacker meter couldn't fix!

I can't find anymore rust, I've looked pretty hard. But I'm always open to suprises!

Well, I thought I would put some photo's of the Safari up.
Its fair knackered, but will serve a purpose. Few good parts on it. If you're interested in any just let me know.

Once I strip it, if no one is interested in the shell I'll be cutting it up for replacement parts for th VF.
You lot can have first dibs on the body though if anyone is interested.

Great project you have there man, Its a very good starting point for the build.

Don't give up on her, if you get pissed off with it, just walk away man, have a think and go back to it.

With the dash, I would suggest making a custom dash, unless you want to stay original.

other then that mate, great!

Yeah I'm going to rebuild it as Original.
Not enough left to butch them. But in saying that I've decided its going to be Orignal, except to those who know what they're looking at.

The motor for isntance, is going to look 100% standard. But i plan to bump the compression up, run a nice bump stick and port the heads. If I can managed 300hp@fly wheel I'll be stoked. It's not a 1/4 mile missile. Its a cruiser. So that's how it will stay.

( Over fast cars, once you seen one, you've seen them all.)

Yeah, cream/off-white with a Black bumble bee stripe with a blood red interior.

Powered by a 318 and T5 gearbox.

That's the aim, Without sounding like a twit. I'm a bit passed going fast. Once you seen north of 270kmh, it's all the same and it doesn't matter how good the next car is, it seems slow Razz.

Also, after a certain speed it stops being fun.
I'm happy to have a nice V8 rumble, 4x4 air conditioning and some squishy seats these days.

I said north of.

It was closer to tree oh oh. And in a thirty year old car, that had no right going that fast.

The kind of car that feels like its doing warp speed at 100km/h.

mind if i ask what it was you were in?

Must have been worked to the absolute limit. How'd you know you were getting up to 300km/h, just a fair estimate?

It was an LH Torana.
With a twin turbo LS7. The bloke who owned it had a little digital speedo on the dash which only counted up. So basically once you start slowing down it stays at the highest achieved speed.
So I know exactly where it got to Razz.
