Hey All.
This is a step by step guide on how to change a CAS on a rb30
First off, You need to disconnect your Battery. This is the most important step when working on any car.
Tools:
Phillips Head Screwdriver
8mm Spanner/Socket to fit Rotor Arm Bolt
Hands X 2
1. First Leave the Dizzy in the car. (If Not changing Bearing)
2. Unplug CAS and Earth wire. Undo 2 Screws on metal plate and remove including Rubber Seal (Pic 1)
3.Undo 2 X Screws Holding Dizzy Cap and Remove (Note: The way the Dizzy Cap is sitting Number 1 near Power Transistor
4.Remove Screw Retaining Dizzy Rotor Arm
5.Undo 2X Screws Holding Metal Plate (Dust Shield) (Pic 2)
6.Undo Screw down Shaft where rotor arm was attached and remove Brass collar (Pic 3)
7.Carefully Remove Metal Disk making sure u Note where Top Dead Centre is by the Big Square in disk as if u flip this disk your timing is out. (Pic 4)
8.Simply Pull out Bottom Collar the disk was sitting on
9.Undo 3X Screws Holding CAS in place
10.carefully remove CAS. (Pic 5)
11.Inspect Bearing should be clean with dust seals in place (Red/Orange) in color.
If there is a Orange dust in this area replace Bearing as this dust will cause new CAS to Fail in a week or so blocking up the LED sensors.
If u look at the main shaft it has a flat side for everthing to line up when putting it back together
12.Insert New CAS and screw down in place
13.Replace collar/replace Metal Disk (Clean Fingerprints/Debris/Oils Etc from Disk) Make sure the TDC Mark is the same location when u took it off. see pic 4
Replace Collar and screw in place. Install Metal dust cover, then rotor arm can go on and be screwed in. Put Dizzy Cap back in place making sure your not 180 degrees out. (Should only go on 1 way)
don’t forget the Rubber Gasket and Metal plate to be screwed back on.
Plug in Earth and 4 Pin Plug and you’re done.
Note As you take the dizzy cap and rotor Arm off give a light sand on rotor contact and dizzy cap Contacts or replace cap/Rotor if the pins are worn and pitted.
Goodluck
